1 “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”Â
During our recent service, we sat with the powerful imagery of Revelation Chapter 14. The passage opens with a vision of the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, accompanied by 144,000 who bear His Father’s name on their foreheads. This company is described as those who were redeemed from the earth, following the Lamb wherever He goes.
The Character of the Redeemed The scripture highlights the purity of this group: they are “virgins” not defiled, and in their mouth was found “no guile.” They stand without fault before the throne of God, singing a new song that only they could learn.
The Three Angelic Proclamations The message continued with the appearance of three angels:
- The First Angel:Â Flies in the midst of heaven with the “everlasting gospel” for every nation, tongue, and people. His cry is clear:Â “Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come.”
- The Second Angel:Â Proclaims the fall of Babylon, that great city that made nations drink of the wine of her fornication.
- The Third Angel:Â Issues a stern warning against worshipping the beast or receiving his mark. Those who do will face the “wine of the wrath of God” and be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the Lamb.
The Patience of the Saints The passage concludes with a call for the patience of the saints—those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. We are reminded that those who die in the Lord are blessed, for they rest from their labors and their works follow them. As the harvest of the earth becomes ripe, the Son of Man thrusts in His sickle, signaling that the time for reaping has come.
